Current workload and a pic!

As you will find out over time I have quite a bit of ADD when it comes to painting projects. I tend to get really excited about a new model/project and start working on it rather then finishing my current project and then moving on to something new. So needless to say I reign supreme in the number of projects left unfinished category.

In addition to the painting hobby I have other things I work on such as terrain and converting models. Since they all are related I will also be posting updates on these projects as well.

Here is a list of projects that I am currently working on:

1) Painting Chaos Raptors. These figures are for the 40k system and are a fast moving heavy hitting assault force. I am currently about 70% finished with this squad and two models are fully complete. This is my current main focus.

2) Putting together a Carnifex.A Carnifex is a monstrous creature for the Tyranid army. I have had this model for about a year and have not put it together yet for two reasons, one is I have not played with my Tyranids in about a year and secondly, I was converting him from being a hunched over beast to a beast that is walking tall. You will see once I get some pictures up of him and that comment will make much more sense.Since I might be playing my Tyranids more often I feel it is time to put big nasty together.

3) Finish painting Sophie.Sophie is a succubus and mascot for Reaper Miniatures. Each year Reaper puts out a new Sophie model usually around the holidays and is often holiday themed (although not always). I saw one that they created with her holding a snowboard and said to myself that I need to paint that modelI have since purchased another Sophie model that has her sitting on a bomb in a pin up pose, very WWII esc. I have yet to begin work on this model.

4) Continue working on a super secret model.Since I am pretty much barred by my friends from painting models that are not directly related to my armies I can not reveal the project at this time. However once it is complete I will post it on here.Don’t expect it any time soon because it will likely be a show piece.

I have a feeling that I missed a couple of projects but oh well, I will update you on them as they come up.Now it has been requested that I get some pictures up here, which I will, but sadly, I do not have many good pictures of my completed models and my works in progress (WIP).

However, all is not lost, I have one picture that seems worthy of posting. This is my Deamon Prince, leader of my Death Guard Chaos Space Marine army. This is an example of one of my better models I painted and it probably took 15 – 20 hours to paint. I will discuss him further in a later post.

This weekend I will do my best to learn how to properly take pictures of my models and over the next couple of weeks I will post some new pictures and a short description of techniques, ideas and other notes about the models I have painted.Next Time I will try to show you my current WIP.

Welcome to Colors Of War

Welcome to Colors Of War, a blog dedicated to painting miniature models.

This blog came about because I belong to a social networking site that has the ability to create a blog and for the heck of it I decided to create a painting blog. The problem is the site is marked as private and many of my friends are not members so they could not read what I was posting. Eventually, I was convinced to make the blog public so they would no longer feel left out.

Below is the post as it originally appeared. Please note that these first couple of posts were written with just my friends in mind and not everyone on the Internet. So if some things I write don't fit right just ignore them and move on. I will change my writing style in a few posts (When the two blogs become in sync).

Colors Of War:

So I guess I get my own blog. Never really thought about having one but since it is here I might as well make use of it.

The real question is what kind of content do I want to put here. I am sure you don't want to read about my daily life so this is what I came up with, a Painting blog.

In case you didn't know I paint miniatures. The miniatures I paint mostly from a game called Warhammer 40000 from Games Workshop. On occasion I do paint other models from other companies such as reaper miniatures, privateer press, and others.

I plan on posting a whole slew of pictures as soon as I get a chance to take the pictures. I am hoping to take pictures later this week and hopefully start posting them in my gallery. As much as I want to post them all at once, I think it might be a good idea to post them a few at a time, thereby wetting your appetite for them. Really its so I don't have to work to hard to put up new content here.

Then once I am caught up I will show you what I am working on and then make a true painting blog.

I hope you enjoy this content and if not I hope at least you will enjoy the pictures.

And since this is a blog, I will likely post rants and other thought that come to mind from time to time.
